Knowing death was upon him, Jesus prayed,

"not my will, but yours be done"

That simple prayer secured for Jesus all honor and glory. He obeyed God to the point of death and in so doing, restored honor to the family of Adam whose shameful acts had brought death in the first place

God raised Jesus up to join Him. He has allowed Jesus to sit next to Him, at His right hand. He has given Jesus a name that is greater than all names. He has made him King over everything He created. He has given Jesus the authority to judge the world on the Last Day. This honor finds its way to us.

Since Jesus was a man he has come to represent mankind. He has consequently restored honor generally to the family or tribe of Adam and Eve.  Think of the way a country honors the family of a fallen war hero.

Secondly, Jesus petitions God on our behalf. He is our mediator. He asks God to look at us kindly. He talks highly of us. He tells God how much He loves us. In doing that, Isa is conferring great honor on us and the Father will welcome us. With such a great position of honor before God, when Isa asks His Father to allow us to join Him in heaven, God listens. Think of the way hundreds of Jews were allowed to remain safe in Nazi Germany because of Schindler's connections with the Nazi Party, or all the slaves freed at the end of Gladiator because of the esteem Maximus was held in.

However, not everyone receives Jesus' honor ...
