Held in Vancouver, the Odyssey Art Exhibition, organised by Taslim Samji, brought together the art of 16 different Ismaili artists from November 23rd - December 1st.

Sandra Zimmerman, in The Source, writes that the goal of the exhibition was

"[c]reating art as a vehicle for communication to help transcend boundaries"

Each artist was asked what in the past influenced their work today. In Samji's own words,

It is in the present, when we look at the past, that we can really shape our future
— Taslim Samji, Vancouver Sun

The art covers a multitude of mediums but Samji explains that even in this diversity there is a commonality that is mirrored in art from artists of other faiths and communities. Across the globe, she says, themes such as love, gender bias and politics are common.
