At the end of last month the Aga Khan was invited by Canada's Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to address their parliament.

Perhaps most revealing is the signing of a "a protocol of understanding to strengthen ties between the Imamat and Canada." According to CBC News,
"The agreement commits both sides to regular consultations on a range of global issues, including foreign policy and regional trade, as well as appointment of representatives."
For a religious leader to have such influence on a nation's politics is quite incredible.
